Project Description

Feeding Centres

Since 2010 Feed a Child Free State and Lesotho makes a difference in the lives of more than 600 orphans a and vulnerable children in Wepener, Hobhouse, Van stardensrus, Zastron and Lesotho. We run day care feeding centres in Wepener and Lesotho on daily basis where we provide 600 warm meals to these children in those day care centres.

Feed a Child’s vision is to eradicate poverty in a sustainable manner and to take Gods hope to the nations. The consequences of malnutrition are severe and include growth, stunting, anaemia, decreased learning capacity and a weakened immune system

Children ages differ from 2 years to 16 years, this include boys and girls from different backgrounds in our and surrounding townships. These children live in horrible conditions and circumstances beyond their control. Most of them goes for days without food, and therefore have a lack of concentration which affects a huge part of their development stages. At Feed a Child Free State and Lesotho these children find hope and happiness at our feeding centres

In Wepener we operate our feeding centres from RDP homes in the townships, children come to the feeding centres to receive their meals and from time to time fruits as well. Foods are prepared in large amounts to provide for such a great number of children. Even though they receive only one meal per day, this is enough to take them through the day until the following day.

More than 600 children per day benefit from this project, Feed a Child Free State and Lesotho provides 18 000 meals per month to these children.

Wepener and the surrounding areas are very poor because there are few jobs available, therefor most people are unemployed, and these contribute to more poverty and suffering.
